PhD in Molecular Cell Biology of Infectious Diseases
Admission requirements
Four-year PhD programme immersing biomedical scientists in molecular cell biology techniques and infectious disease research relevant to Sub-Saharan Africa. One year of coursework covers latest advances in biomedical research, quantitative/qualitative methods, vaccine approaches, drug discovery, host-pathogen genomics and immune response mechanisms, followed by three years of original research. Entry requires a Master's in biological or physical sciences, or a good first degree (minimum Second Class Lower) — first-degree entrants join the Master's programme and upgrade to PhD after year one with a GPA of 3.5+. An entrance exam and a selection interview is required. Fellows are mentored by University of Ghana and international partner institution scientists with access to world-class laboratories.
