Admission requirements
Description: A research-intensive doctoral programme delivered by the Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research (NMIMR) that equips fellows to address health challenges at the human–animal–environment interface through interdisciplinary training and mentorship across NMIMR's scientific units. The programme combines advanced coursework with original research, with core and elective courses including Cell and Molecular Biology, Outbreak Investigation and Control, Contemporary Trends in One Health, Entrepreneurship in One Health, Nutrition and One Health, Vector Biology and Vector-Borne Diseases, and Dynamics of Antimicrobial Resistance. Fellows conduct high-quality research using NMIMR's internationally recognised laboratories and field platforms, with training emphasising research methodology and design, data analysis, scientific writing, research ethics and leadership. Graduation requires 18–24 credits of coursework, four seminars, a comprehensive examination, and a defended doctoral thesis (total 75–81 credits). Graduates are well prepared for careers in research, academia, global health and public health leadership.
Admission Requirements: A Master's degree (MPhil/MSc) in a relevant discipline — Biological Sciences, Biomedical Sciences, Agricultural Sciences, Environmental Sciences, Medical Laboratory Sciences, Veterinary Medicine, Human Medicine or related science/health fields — with a strong academic background and evidence of research experience. Applicants may be invited for an interview.
